    About Me

I am currently attending Fort Hays State University.  I am primarily a functional potter who occasionally steps into the realm of decorative pieces.

I was born in Hays, Kansas and later moved to the small central Kansas town of Ellinwood.  Growing up here, I did not receive a lot of exposure to the art world after the art program was cut from Ellinwood Grade School.  I did, however, receive a fair amount of exposure while attending Ellinwood High School, where I learned to throw pottery on a kick wheel.  After high school, I attended Barton County College and received an Associate in Arts with honors.

In 2009 I received a Bachelors in Fine Art at Fort Hays State University.  I am now working towards a Bachelors in Secondary Art Education.  I am continually expanding my knowledge base on forms, glazes, and firing techniques. I draw inspiration from nature and patterns in nature. After receiving my next degree, I plan to become a High school art teacher. My ultimate goal is to become a professional artist and produce work from my own studio.
